Baku ready for co-op on Tabriz 2018: Azeri official
Azerbaijan's Consul General to Tabriz says his country is fully ready to cooperate with Iran on holding the Tabriz 2018 event.
Aliyannaghi M. Huseynov said in a meeting with East Azarbaijan's deputy governor on Thursday that Azerbaijan is ready for all kinds of cooperation, including scientific, technical, economic, cultural or touristic cooperation with Iran, particularly with East Azarbaijan Province of the country.
He also suggested that Iran's Tabriz and Azerbaijan's city Nakhchivan as two cities that have been distinguished for 2018 can provide the two countries with the required ground for boosting cultural coordination.
Tabriz and Nakhchivan have been chosen respectively as the tourism and cultural capitals of the Muslim World for 2018 by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
The Iranian provincial official Rahim Shohratifar, at the meeting, said Tabriz 2018 is an opportunity for boosting relations between Iran and Azerbaijan in various spheres.
Given the designation of Azerbaijan's capital, Baku, as the tourism capital of the Muslim countries in 2019, experiences of this year's event will be beneficial to Azerbaijan. Therefore, more cooperation is necessary for transferring the experience.
Resuming Tehran-Baku flights, easing travel for Azeris to have medical tours in Tabriz were also other topics discussed at the meeting.
Iran's East Azarbaijan Province with the city of Tabriz as its capital shares border with the Republic of Azerbaijan in Jolfa and Khoda Afarin cities.
