Iran, Russia to enhance cooperation in the field of energy
Iranian Minister of Road and Urban Development Abbas Akhoundi and Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak discussed ways to promote mutual cooperation, especially in the economic, industrial and energy fields.
During the meeting in Russian on Friday, both sides explored prospects of mutual cooperation in various fields within the framework of OPEC and Gas Exporting Countries Forum.
Novak, also Russian head of Iran-Russia Cooperation Commission, said that the goal is to enhance cooperation in the field of energy, among others.
Noting that leaders of the two countries are in regular contact with each other, he announced Vladimir Putin’s imminent visit to Tehran.
Akhoundi, for his part, referred to the upward trend of cooperation between the two countries, saying that current level of bilateral relations is satisfactory.
Akhoundi who is currently in Moscow has so far held talks with ministers of north Caucasus affairs, of construction, housing and utilities and head of Railway Company.
Minister of North Caucasus Affairs Kuznetsov and Akhoundi stressed the need for promoting the Russian region with Iran’s northern provinces.
They discussed a range of issues including economy, trade, tourism, transportation and shipping.
Meanwhile, Akhoundi signed a cooperation deal on housing with Russian Minister of Construction, Housing and Utilities Mikhail Men.
Men welcomed development of bilateral ties in the field of housing and architecture, saying that his country boasts of good experience in the domain of housing, architecture and urban development and it is ready to share its experience with the Iranian companies.
