Iran to enhance gas extraction from joint oil fields with Qatar

Iran is planning to increase the amount of gas it extracts from the South Pars Gas Field to the same level extracted by Qatar during the next Iranian calendar year, Vice President for Executive Affairs Mohammad Shariatmadari said.

Speaking in a local ceremony in the southwestern province of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, he said that any delay to exploit the joint fields is abolishing the people’s right.

The vice president also added that the amount of oil Iran is extracting from the joint oil fields has reached 270,000 bpd.

Shariatmadari noted that Iran is now producing up to three million bpd of oil and exports 2.3 million bpd.

The official said that natural gas condensates production has reached 580,000 bpd.

Iran has begun investing five billion dollars in petrochemical sector and aims at building 12 more petrochemical complexes across the country, he said.

The vice president also said that Iran is now producing eight million liters of Euro 4 gasoline and will become a gasoline exporter till the next Iranian calendar year (started March 21,2017).

In the post-sanctions era, the number of flights that pass Iran space has increased to 1100 from the previous number of 400 flights in the sanctions era, he said.

The official said that exports have had a 21 percent rise in value and 36 percent rise in weight and reached 16 billion dollars from the previous amount of 13.4 billion dollars during the spring.
