Iran calls for resuming banking ties with Armenia
Iran has called for prompt resumption of banking ties with Armenia.
“Banking ties between Tehran and Yerevan should be resumed as soon as possible,” First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri as saying at a meeting with Armenian Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Levon Yolyan in Tehran.
Tehran does not impose any restrictions on economic ties with Yerevan, Jahangiri added.
The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), commonly known as the nuclear deal, was reached between Tehran and the world’s major powers on July 14, 2015.
As a result of the implementation of the JCPOA, some parts of international sanctions on the Islamic Republic were lifted.
However, the country’s banking system is still facing considerable difficulties in re-establishing ties with major international banks.
