Iran to launch direct flight to Madrid and Paris
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hassan Qashqavi said Iran and Spain agreed to pave the way for launching Tehran-Madrid direct flight.
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Consular, Parliamentary and Expatriates Affairs Hassan Ghashghavi held talks with his Spanish counterpart Cristóbal González-Aller in Madrid on Monday on bilateral consular ties.
The two sides discussed facilitating visa issuance and judicial and police cooperation against terrorism, organized crimes, human smuggling and drugs.
Cristóbal González-Aller, for his part, welcomed Iran’s offers and called for boosting cultural, political and economic cooperation with Iran.
And also Iranian Mahan Airline will launch a direct flight between Tehran and Paris late June.
As of June 20, 2016, the Iranian private airline will offer three flights a week from its base in Tehran Imam Khomeini and Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport, operated with Airbus A310-300 which can accommodate 12 passengers in Business Class and 190 in economy.
Departures are scheduled on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 6:45 am to arrive at 10:20, return flights leaving France at 11:50 am and land at 20:10. Mahan Air will compete with Air France (from CDG) and Iran Air (towards Orly) on this road, the fourth long-haul novelty announced for autumn 2015.
As of June 9, Mahan Air will offer two weekly flights between Tehran and Copenhagen, operated by A340-300 (7 seats in First, 48 in Business and 160 in Economy). Departures are scheduled Thursday and Sunday at 6:45 am (10:00 arrival) with return of Denmark at 11:30 (arrival 7:10 p.m.), this time without competition.
Another novelty in Scandinavia, Stockholm-Arlanda, has received approval from the Swedish authorities but has not been finalized (two flights per week to face Ian Air).
Mahan Air in April explained that other routes "to Europe and Asia" are being prepared, after those launched early in the year to Moscow and Kiev. It already serves international airports of Almaty, Ankara, Athens, Bangkok, Dusseldorf, Delhi, Dubai, Yerevan, Irbil, Guangzhou, Istanbul, Kabul, Kuala Lumpur, Milan, Munich, Najaf, Beijing and Shanghai. London, Tbilisi, Manama, Tokyo and Singapore would be among the destinations covered by this map on its website.
