Norwegian companies are keen to get involved in Iran's oil and gas projects in the Caspian Sea, especially Sardar-e Jangal oil field, Mohammadali Najafi, the governor of the Iranian province of Gilan announced on May 5.
He didn't mention the name of companies, but Iran and Statoil have already started negotiations over developing of the country's oil and gas projects.
Najafi added that after elimination of sanctions, foreign investors demonstrated their willingness to take part in Iran's Caspian oil and gas projects, the official website of Gilan governor-general office reported.
He added that the hopes for the involvement of foreign companies in Caspian projects, based on the new designed oil and gas contract (Iran Petroleum Contract or IPC) have been raised in pro-sanctions era.
Iran introduced IPC to foreign companies last November. About 50 projects were offered based on IPC, including Sardar-e Jangal field.
Sardar-e Jangal located at block 6 with dimensions of 24x6 km in 750 meter water depth. Iran has drilled two exploration wells and reportedly the field holds 2 billion barrels of crude oil, with API of 39.
