An energy expert has said that Iran and Russia can cooperate on bypassing the sanctions.

Mir Ghasem Momeni said in an exclusive interview with ILNA that Iran wants to swap parts of Russia’s energy with countries in the region.

Commenting on cooperation between Iran and Russia on energy, the expert said that the plan is that Iran wants to swap parts of Russia’s energy with the region's countries and receive technology and investment in exchange.

But the issue is that both countries are under sanctions and financial transfers and sales in the markets are not prepared for them, he added.

Underlining that the two countries can cooperate in bypassing the sanctions, he said that “I think that the most important factors of cooperation between Iran and Russia have been in the field of exchanging experiences to bypass the sanctions and how to manage exports and regulate the market.”
