The value of exported commodities from the customs department of the Qom province, north-central Iran, has increased by 40 percent in the first seven months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21 to October 22).

Esfandiar Darikvandi, director-general of Qom province's customs department, told IRNA on Friday that the worth of export from the province stood at 191,299,100 dollars in the mentioned period, while the volume was estimated at 136,233,357 dollars in the same period last year.

Pointing to the fact that the utilization of electronic systems helped speed up the process of export from the customs department, he noted that the weight of the exported commodities reached 220,340 tons.

According to the official, the import stood at 191,498,438 dollars weight of 38,183 tons in the seven months of the year.

The bulk of imports consist of basic commodities as well as equipment required in manufacturing units, he said, noting that the imports help develop production and export, which will end up boosting economic activities.
