Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (TSMC) has suspended production of advanced silicon for Chinese start-up Beren Technology to ensure compliance with US regulations.
"Bloomberg" news agency, quoting an informed source, who asked not to be identified, said that the decision is linked to information in the public domain that Berrin products outperform Nvidia Corp's A100 chips, which are now banned in the Chinese market.
While TSMC has not reached a conclusion on whether Beren products are subject to the US limit, the Taiwanese chipmaker has decided to halt supplies to the Chinese startup for the time being, the source said.
