Russia to make biggest investment ever in Iran economy
Iranian and Russian companies signed here on Tuesday the biggest foreign investment agreement ever in Iran’s economy.
According to the agreement, reputable Russian companies will make a 40-billion-dollar investment in Iran’s oil industry.
Russians have been implementing a four-billion-dollar investment project in Iran’s oil industry, while the figure is planned to reach ten times more after today's signing ceremony.
Soon after the ceremony, talks on the details of the agreement will start.
In recent weeks, a preliminary agreement on such an investment through big Russian companies including Gazprom was reached in Iran in line with strategic cooperation between the two countries.
Russia’s President Vladimir Putin had already urged senior officials at Gazprom – the biggest gas company worldwide – to travel to Iran in the shortest time and hold talks on investment in Iran’s gas and oil projects.
Gazprom officials had visited Iran to hold the acquired talks and now today, the prepared text for the agreement was signed in Tehran.
