U.S. sanctions prevent Iran from entering LNG markets: Expert
An analyst of Kepler International Institute has said that given the war between Ukraine and Russia, Iran has an opportunity to enter the LNG market.
The crisis of the Russia-Ukraine war will increase LNG demands in the world for the long term, Homayon Falakshahi told ILNA, adding that if Iran can enter the LNG market, foreign companies like Total and Ani will undoubtedly be willing to cooperate with Iran,
He said that Iran’s main problem is a political one, adding that as long as U.S. sanctions on Iran aren’t lifted, Iran will not have the opportunity to enter the LNG markets.
“It is because that 93 percent of natural gas liquefaction technology belongs to U.S. companies and the remaining 7 percent belongs to Germany-based company Linde. Therefore, Iran needs to get sanctions relief in order to develop its LNG projects,” he added.
