Iran to open trade office in Qatar: Pres. Raisi

Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi said on arrival from Qatar trip on Wednesday that Tehran was going to open a trade office in Doha and that the two countries have agreed to remove trade, economic, and investment obstacles.

Raisi was in Qatar for a two-day visit. He took part in the 6th Summit of Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) and met with the emir of Qatar and other heads and officials of participating countries.

The trip had two major goals: one, strengthening mutual trust and cooperation with neighboring countries; two, increasing Iran’s share of regional economy and trade, the President told reporters on arrival at Tehran.

He said that he and the emir of Qatar signed 14 MoUs and tasked their respective administrations to follow up implementation of them.

Raisi said that he had a meeting with Qatari businesses during which the industry ministers of Iran and Qatar were tasked with identifying and removing trade, economic and investment obstacles between the two countries.

The President also mentioned his meetings with the heads of GECF states on the sidelines of the summit where they had discussed bilateral ties and regional and international cooperation.

He promised to offer periodical reports to the Iranian people so that they can be hopeful of the outcomes of such trips.
