Chairman of the Iran-Poland Joint Trade Committee Rahim Banamolaei says the two countries’ joint chamber of commerce is to be officially launched soon as the talks are underway.

Speaking to ILNA news agency, he said an Iranian delegation is currently in Warsaw and it is negotiating on tourism and they will return to Tehran in upcoming days. He added that the delegation pursues developing tourism ties between Iran and Poland as well as airline services. He noted in return, a Polish delegation is to come to Iran and to visit two provinces of the country.

He went on to say that the banking problem for trade of Iran and Poland has not been solved yet and traders are still trading through the third party country, adding that one of the Iranian traders has faced problem in Poland and Poland’s commercial attache in Tehran has been invited to the chamber to resolve it

On the importance of forming the joint commission, he said the joint economic commission of the two countries should be formed but it is still unknown which minister is to head this commission. Banamolaei said naturally the economic minister should head the commission but it has not been decided yet.

He said the establishing the Joint Iran-Poland Chamber of Commerce is in the pipeline and all formalities have been done and Iran Chamber of Commerce is to help it financially in order to find a suitable place for the chamber. He noted that the website of the chamber is almost ready and it will be inaugurated when the Polish delegation visits Tehran.

On the trade volume of Iran and Poland, he said it is like the past years and it is around $50m per year which is not a considerable figure and it depends on the government policies to ease imports and exports.

Banamolaei announced readiness of Iranian traders for increasing the exports and for example they are ready to export machine-made carpets to Poland, adding that the country is exporting hand-woven carpets to Poland.

He criticized current national economy and said almost 85 percent of the economy is in control of the state and semi-state sectors and the private sector is in control of 18 percent. He added that the share of private sector from the exports is around $15b and in case the private sector gets powerful this amount can reach $50b in five years.
