Iran always stressed role of OPEC in global oil market: Raisi
Iran's President says the Islamic Republic of Iran, as an influential member of OPEC, emphasizes promoting the global position of the organization and increasing its role in managing the global energy market.
Ebrahim Raisi received on Friday the Secretary-General of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) Mohammed Sanusi Barkindo and heard his report about the status quo of the oil market and production and the efforts of some powers to undermine the place of the organization.
Raeisi said the OPEC Secretariat should consider the rights and interests of the member states as the basis for adopting all measures and implementing all mechanisms.
He congratulated the 61st anniversary of the establishment of OPEC to Barkindo and called on the body's secretariat to act more actively in coordinating the member states and non-member states.
Barkindo for his part considered Iran as one of OPEC's founders which always played a key role and performed positively in the body. He called for the support and cooperation of the Islamic Republic of Iran to advance the goals of OPEC.
