Yazd a historical city
Iran, recently registered the city of Yazd for nomination in 2017 UNESCO World Cultural Heritage listing.
Yazd province is located at the center of Iranian Plateau and is bordering South Khorasan, Khorasan e Razavi, Isfahan, Kerman and Fars provinces. The province is regarded a historic region. Iran has nominated the city of Yazd for registration in 2017 UNESCO World Cultural Heritage listing.
Most notable tourist attraction include Amir Chakhmaq Complex, Maybod’s Narin Castle, Dowlat Abad Garden, the 4000 years old Cypress of Abarkuh, water reservoirs and the city’s historical texture.
Yazd historical texture
With a total area of around 800 hectare, Yazd historical texture includes historical public architectures comprising houses, bazaars and mosques. But the most important element of Yazd historic structures is the presence of windcatchers in various architectural structures. The city is named as the first mud-brick city of the world.
Maybod Narin castle
Narin castle is a military government stronghold which dates back to Achaemenid dynasties. It’s said that the process of constructions in the city has started by the building the structure.
Dowlatabad Garden
The dowlatabad Garden belongs to Afsharieh period, which has contained the tallest mud-brick wind-catcher as high as 34 meters. The structure is designed to be used as air ventilation on top of houses and water reservoirs. It’s considered to be one of the most significant symbol of Iranian architecture.
In addition to wind-catcher, the garden also contains pools and different trees and flowers, all of which has been put together in a symmetrical way at different parts of the garden.
